Image processing cameras made in Iran
RasaAndishan's area scan image processing cameras can be used in particle image velocimetry (PIV), digital image correlation (DIC), license plate reading, and machine vision applications. Unlike line scan cameras, area scan cameras capture a complete image of their field of view in every frame. Their sensors come in many types, sizes and resolutions. CMOS and CCD are the two main sensor types for area scan cameras. CMOS sensors run at lower current and voltage (lower power consumption) than CCDs. CCDs have traditionally offered low noise and good uniformity, but today's CMOS sensors match or beat them in most applications and are much faster.
Area scan camera sensors come in sizes such as 1/3", 1/2", 1/4", 2/3", and others. The resolutions of these cameras also cover a wide range of applications. One application of these cameras is particle image velocimetry, or Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). All RasaAndishan cameras support external triggering. For example, if you combine an external trigger with a very short exposure or a strobe light, you see the blades of a computer fan spinning at 4000 rpm in the same position in every frame, with no blur. RasaAndishan area scan cameras currently support USB2 and USB3 interfaces. A camera with an Ethernet interface is also on the company's development roadmap. The table below shows the range of RasaAndishan area scan cameras.

Every RasaAndishan image processing camera works with the ALTRON software. You can also use the SDK in your own software. Software tutorials are on the ALTRON software page. To learn about this technology, read the Wikipedia article on machine vision.
An industrial image processing camera is not a webcam or a security camera. It has a standard lens mount, a sensor with precisely known specifications, and it sends raw, unaltered images to the computer so that software can measure, inspect and decide on them. An area scan camera captures a complete two-dimensional frame in every exposure. That is why it is the simplest choice whenever the whole scene must be seen at one instant.
RasaAndishan area scan cameras today range from 752 × 582 pixels to 5 megapixels (2592 × 2048), from 8 to 72 frames per second, with CCD and CMOS sensors, global and rolling shutters, and USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 connections.
Every camera comes with the ALTRON software at no extra cost. You connect the camera, see the image and process and save it, all in one window:
If you write your own program, ready-made sample code in eight programming languages, including C++, C#, Python, MATLAB and LabVIEW, gets you to the first image quickly. A GenICam/DirectShow driver also lets you use the cameras in standard machine-vision software such as HALCON. So the camera fits into your existing system instead of forcing you to change it.
To see two models side by side, use the camera comparison tool.
- The size of the object and the smallest detail you must see.
- The working distance and the speed of the object.
- The lighting, and whether colour matters.
- The ambient temperature and the software you will use.
