Iranian-made furnace thermal camera

The first Iranian-made furnace thermal camera was designed and built by RasaAndishan. This camera works in the long-wave infrared band. This advanced product was developed with domestic technology and is designed to cover a wide range of industrial, research and security needs. Another name for this product is thermovision or thermography camera.

Key features:

  • Resolution and spectral range: a sensor with a resolution of 640 × 512 pixels and a spectral response of 8 to 14 microns in the long-wave infrared.
  • Temperature range: Operating temperature of the camera itself (ambient temperature at the installation site): ⁦-40⁩ to ⁦+85⁩ °C.
  • A sensor with NETD below 50mK and a 12-micrometer pixel pitch, for images with outstanding clarity and detail and low thermal noise.
  • High processing speed: a 40 Hz frame rate, suitable for real-time applications and precise analysis.
  • Support for multiple colour palettes: including Rainbow, IronBow, BlackHot and Normal to optimise image display to suit each user's needs.
  • Fast, robust connectivity: based on port USB3 for stable communication and high-speed data transfer to the computer.
  • Temperature calibration: precise adjustment of the temperature range to meet each client's specific requirements.
  • Extensive customisation: because the technology is home-grown, the device can be customised for different industries.

Built on Iranian technical know-how, this camera meets diverse needs in the industrial, military, medical and research fields. For more information or to order, please get in touch with us.

The figure below shows a thermal image of the electronic board of a high-speed camera. The regulator and image sensor are much hotter than the other components on the board.

The thermal image in the IronBow, RainBow, WhiteHot, BlackHot palettes was captured by the RA-ThermaPro-640X-2500D camera.

In the clip below you can see how the Iranian-made thermal camera reads the temperature of a glass melting furnace. You can see the temperature of the melt and the flame at the selected point.

Thermal camera guide

What does a thermal camera see?

Every object emits infrared radiation according to its temperature. A thermal camera captures it at 8 to 14 microns and turns it into an image and a temperature reading, even in total darkness.

  • Furnace and melt monitoring

Melt and flame temperature is read at any chosen point, without contact and from a safe distance.

  • Electronics inspection

An overheating part, such as a regulator or sensor, stands out at once.

  • Predictive maintenance

Loose connections and hot motors or bearings show up before they fail.

  • Surveillance and security

People and vehicles are visible at night and through smoke, with no light at all.

How to pick the right model

  1. Temperature range of the target

First find the hottest point you need to read. Low-range models suit electronics and equipment; for furnaces and melts take the 1300 or 2500 °C model.

  2. Resolution

The smaller or farther the target, the more pixels you need so you read its own temperature, not an average with the background. Resolutions run from 120×96 to 640×512.

  3. Sensitivity (NETD)

A lower NETD means smaller temperature differences are visible. Our 640×512 sensor has an NETD below 50 mK.

  4. Frame rate

Frame rate matters for fast processes; our 640×512 sensor runs at 40 Hz.

Tips for accurate temperature readings

  • Emissivity

Shiny metal emits less and reflects more of its surroundings. Enter the object's emissivity in the software to read its true temperature.

  • Ordinary glass blocks the view

Ordinary glass does not pass 8–14 µm radiation; do not place the camera behind window glass, and use a dedicated infrared window for furnaces.

  • Sensor uniformity

ALTRON corrects sensor uniformity with or without closing the shutter, removing noise and unevenness from the image.

  • The right colour palette

Palettes such as IronBow, Rainbow, BlackHot and WhiteHot make temperature differences easier to see; the reading itself does not depend on the palette.

Common questions

Can a thermal camera read through glass?

No. Ordinary glass is opaque at 8–14 µm. Furnaces need a dedicated infrared window.

Why do shiny metals read too cold?

Their emissivity is low, so part of what the camera sees is reflected surroundings. Set the correct emissivity in the software or apply a high-emissivity tape to the surface.

Can the temperature range be tailored to our job?

Yes. Temperature calibration is done for each customer's required range, and because the technology is our own, the camera can be customised for different industries.

How does the camera connect to a PC?

Over USB3, and with ALTRON you see the image, the temperature at any point and the hottest spot live.
