Photo finish system unveiled by Vice President
The Vice President for Science and Technology, Dr Afshin, unveiled the fully Iranian photo finish system on the final day of the Made-in-Iran Equipment Exhibition.
This product was designed and built to order for the Golestan Province Equestrian Board. In this work, we benefited from the support of General Razzaghian and the guidance and advice of Mr. Golshahi, one of Iran's top IT engineers.

When several competitors cross the finish line almost at the same time, it is called a photo finish. At that moment, the naked eye cannot identify the winner. Judges use a photo or video of the finish line for a closer look. A finish photo greatly reduces the chance of a race being declared without a result. It also shows each competitor's exact crossing time.
Finish cameras were developed in the 1940s and 1950s. Their goal was to make judging more accurate and reduce cheating. These cameras use the photo finish method and strip photography. In this method, only what happens on the finish line is recorded. The horizontal position of each point in the photo shows the crossing time.
RasaAndishan Mowj Pardaz is the first manufacturer of this system in Iran. It is used in athletics, cycling, rowing, motor racing and horse racing, and has been tested successfully at races across the country.
The system comes in three models. The 1000 model is the basic version and uses a manual M42 lens. The 2000 model has Lux Boost technology and motorised Canon lenses; lighting conditions are set with a single click. The 3000 model sets the mirror and finish line in under 20 seconds, and its time display precision can be set from 0.1 to 0.00001 s (five decimal places). Full documentation in Persian and after-sales service come with the system. To learn about the models, see the Iranian-made photo finish system.
